A Japanese national by the name of Tadashi Komenoi came to the Philippines for a five-year tour of duty under the Kawasho Corporation. Serendipitously, Mr. Komenoi was also a 3rd Dan practitioner of Aikido who joined sessions at the Makati YMCA Aikido Dojo.
In August, Marielle Macapawa turned over Makati Aikido Club headship to Tadashi Komenoi, who eventually became its Chief Instructor. Mr. Komenoi also shared his expertise with several other dojos such as the Red Tiger Aikido Club (now Takemusu), Quezon City Aikido Club (now Tachi Kaze Dojo), Shinbu Aikido Dojo and the Makiling Aikido Dojo.
Tadashi Komenoi inroads prompted the Aikikai Hombu Dojo to appoint him as their official representative in the Philippines. The Hombu Dojo, through Komenoi, conveyed its objective of uniting all Filipino aikido practitioners from various dojos and organizations into one federation. However, Mr. Komenoi realized this was impossible.
Instead, he convinced all the dojos under his tutelage to unify into one organization. Heads of said organizations, the Makati YMCA Aikido Club, the Quezon City Aikido Club, the Red Tiger Aikido Club, the Makiling Aikido Club and Shinbu Dojo, held several meetings, they adopted a constitution and officially formed Aikido Philippines.
Aikido Philippines gained recognition as an accredited Aikido organization under the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. The previous Doshu, the late Kisshomaru Ueshiba, signed the certificate of recognition.
Aikido Philippines was featured during the 1993 Metro Manila Grand Exhibition Of Martial Arts.

The organization achieved one of its greatest milestones: a memorandum of agreement was signed between PAPA and AIKIPHIL to bond together and to assist each other in the propagation of Aikido as taught by O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba.
The Aikikai Foundation gave Aikido Philippines, Inc. and PAPA a grant for the training of blackbelts of both organizations by an instructor from Hombu Dojo.
Hiroshi Fujimaki Shidoin trained blackbelts from both organizations. This training modernized and upgraded Aikido in the Philippines to its present level. the three federations Aikido Philippines, Filipino Federation of Aikido, and Pilipinas Aikido Propagation Association have been inviting shihans three times a year to the Phillippines for instruction.
